AIR School of Breathwork

Doug Sawyer and Brigitte Martin Powell are the founders, of the AIR School of Breathwork. With over 70 years of experience in Rebirthing between them, Doug and Brigitte have witnessed the vast transforming results this technique can bring to people’s lives, whatever their background or belief system. Their passion for the healing powers of the breath and their determination to share their experience of conscious breathing led them to create Avalon Institute of Rebirthing in 2010.

This then became AIR School of Breathwork in 2020. In 2023 Doug and Brigitte handed the school over to Kerry Veitch and Jacqueline Storm, two graduates of the AIR School of Breathwork. The school was one of the first to be accredited by the Global Professional Breathwork Alliance in 2013.

Kerry Veitch

Director & Trainer

Kerry has been connected with rebirthing breathwork since 1993, with a focus now on embodiment practices such as Internal Family Systems and Eugene Gendlin's Focusing.

Kerry has a trauma informed approach, and is the new director & trainer with AIR School of Breathwork, teaching students to become breathwork facilitators. She loves sharing the healing power of the breath with others, by holding retreats, weekly online group sessions, 1-to-1 sessions, and especially warm water rebirthing.

Kerry also co-founded the UK’s first Breathwork Festival in 2018, which is an annual event celebrating all kinds of breathwork. Kerry’s very grounded nature holds a very safe space for breather(s), holding them in their highest potential and being committed to the unfolding of each person’s own journey which of course is guided perfectly by our breath.

Kerry offers 1 hr 1:1 supervision sessions at £50 per hour, book here:

Jacqui Storm

Director & Trainer

I am the Co-Director of the AIR School of Breathwork, where I share my knowledge, experience, and passion for empowering others to reconnect with their health, resilience, and inner strength through the breath.

Through many years of clinical practice, I have come to understand that stress lies at the root of most forms of ill health. In my experience, the breath is the most powerful and accessible key to lasting change. Conscious breathwork not only helps relieve physical conditions such as chronic back pain, but also reignites motivation, self-awareness, and a genuine commitment to self-healing in a way I have rarely seen matched by other therapies.

My current clinical work integrates Spinal Therapy and Breathwork, shaped by decades of experience. Our posture reflects our inner landscape. Harmonising this inner space can be challenging, as we carry our personal history both internally and externally. But through Rebirthing Breathwork, I support clients in reconnecting with and re-harmonising their inner space, empowering lasting change and deeper healing.

I have completed a complete a four-year degree in Chiropractic at the Scandinavian College of Chiropractic in Sweden, amongst many other qualifications.

Doug graduated in Maths and Computer Science at Liverpool University and went on to train as a teacher, leading to working in schools, National Health Service and later in the private sector. In 1984 Doug took a training in Rebirthing Breathwork and later a course Healing Shiatsu.

Since 1986 Doug has worked as a Rebirther and Shiatsu practitioner.

In 2010 Doug co-founded the AIR School of Breathwork to pass on his depth of knowledge to those wishing to enter the field of Complementary Medicine as a Rebirthing Breathworker.  He has become a leading light in the development of the Gentle Breath.

His focus in this work has been to encourage clients to discover their own natural breath to facilitate a gentle evolution at a pace that is appropriate to each individual.

Kath Veitch

Newsletter & Blog

I’m a mum, a breathworker and a writer. I live in Somerset, England with my teenage son and dog, Bruno. My breathwork journey has been very much in conjunction with being a mum. I have been with the AIR community since 2017 and love to now contribute to the newsletter and blog posts. Motherhood has been the steepest learning curve and deepest healing journey, the most incredible gift and privilege. Breathwork has been my anchor and guide since my son’s early years, and forever amazes me with its gentle power for healing, self-empowerment, connection and creativity. I love doing one on one sessions and assisting in group breathes. I am especially passionate about using my skills and experience to serve children, young people and their parents and carers. I am excited and grateful to be part of a movement that contributes to the well-being of individuals and families, as well as wider collectives and our Mother Earth.
